Forbes thanks viewers in bidding farewell…

(from OrlandoSentinel.com) – Anchor Jacqueline London earned the headlines today, but reporter Donald Forbes is also out at CBS affiliate WKMG-Channel 6.

“I was given some warning that my contract would not be renewed,” said Forbes, who had been at the station since 1996.

His last day on the air was June 18. He collected two Emmys as well as awards from The Associated Press and the Society of Professional Journalists. But he wanted to talk about viewers.

“I can’t thank them enough for their support and how kind they have been over the years,” Forbes said. “It’s been incredible, the people I’ve met and the things I’ve seen. The opportunities that were afforded to me by working at Channel 6 were great. I went to Iraq, Kuwait. I’ve covered almost every shuttle launch since 1997. I have lived through more hurricanes than you know. It’s been a great ride.”….Cont….
