WFTV goes “North, to Alaksa”…

(from OrlandoSentinel.com) - What could be the long-term effects of the Gulf of Mexico oil spill?

ABC affiliate WFTV-Ch. 9 will try to explain by looking at the Exxon Valdez disaster, which occurred in March 1989 in Prince William Sound, Alaska.

The station sent Jason Allen to Alaska for a series of reports that start at 6 tonight. In tonight’s live report, Allen surveys the effects on the shoreline.

He offers two live reports Thursday. At 5 p.m., Allen looks at wildlife in general and the herring population in particular.. At 6 p.m., Allen focuses on the health of workers who helped in the cleanup and who still suffer medical problems.

In reports at 5 and 6 p.m. Friday, Allen explores the economic impact and the effects on tourism.
