Amy Wegmann goes back to WFTX…

(from TVSpy.com) – Amy Wegmann is coming back to WFTX in Fort Myers, FL.

After ten years with the Journal Broadcasting owned FOX affiliate, Wegmann left in 2012 to help her husband Trey Radel get elected to Congress. Radel later resigned from office after pleading guilty to misdemeanor cocaine possession.

“It’s like returning home to family,” Wegmann said in a statement. “I couldn’t be more excited to be back on a newscast that I helped build back in its infancy.”….Cont….

The announcement was made this morning via internal station memo:

I am very excited to announce we have hired a new morning co-anchor for Fox 4 Rising! Amy Wegmann will join Miriam Zamorano, Jamie Kagol, Angela Melvin and Julian Glover on the morning show beginning Monday, July 7th.

Many of you know Amy, and I am sure you will agree her warm and enthusiastic personality will be an excellent addition to our morning team.

A news release about Amy’s addition will go out later this week.  If you receive any questions from outside media or viewers, please direct those to Charlie (WFTX VP/GM).

Amy will be in the building for training on Wednesday and Thursday, so be sure to welcome her to the team!

Zamorano & Wegmann to mornings at WFTX…

(from News-Press.com) – It was announced this week Miriam Zamorano will join “Fox 4 Rising” as news anchor in early October.

Zamorano most recently worked as a traffic reporter, anchor and lifestyle co-host for San Antonio’s FOX affiliate, KABB-TV, but prior to that she spent three years as a reporter, anchor and traffic reporter for Southwest Florida’s WINK-TV.

WFTX also announced that announced Amy Wegmann will substitute for Carley Wegner on “Fox 4 Morning Blend” while Wegner is on medical leave. Wegmann will team up with Bill Wood….Cont….

Amy Wegman leaves WFTX for her husband…

(from Fox4Now.com) - WFTX, Fox 4 and Amy Wegmann jointly announce Ms. Wegmann’s departure as the primaryco-anchor for its evening and night time newscasts.  Ms. Wegmann will now devote full-time focus in support her husband, Trey Radel’s, election campaign.

Mr. Radel is the Republican candidate for Congress in District 19.  Fox 4 and Ms.Wegmann have reached a mutual agreement to end her employment with the station.   The announcement was made today by Judy Kenney, Vice President and General Manager of Fox 4.

TV anchor is moonlighting on TV…

(edited from News-Press.com) – One of Southwest Florida’s most popular news anchors has been doing some moonlighting by appearing on a variety of television dramas. But she says not to worry — Hollywood is not in her future.

WFTX Fox4 anchor Amy Wegmann is on an extended leave currently. She hasn’t been on the news since giving birth to son, Jude, six months ago. Her maternity leave segued directly into a secondary leave due to the fact her husband is running for public office. Trey Radel is a candidate for the U.S. House of Representatives from Florida’s 19th congressional district.

But in her spare time — hard to believe she has any — Wegmann has taken acting roles in several popular television shows….Cont….

Wegmann takes leave from WFTX…

(from TVSpy.com) – Anchor Amy Wegmann is taking a leave of absence from WFTX as her husband, Trey Radel, runs for congress.

Wegmann, who anchors WFTX’s 10 and 11 p.m. newscasts, has been on maternity leave from the Fox-affiliate since giving birth in December.  According to the Naples News, Wegmann is now taking an indefinite leave of absence as Radel campaigns.
