Brian Monahan is headed to Seattle…

(from OrlandoSentinel.com) - Bob Jordan may be gone, but he still has pull. The former WFTV-Channel 9 news director, who is now at KIRO in Seattle, has lured meteorologist Brian Monahan to join him there.

“I’ve loved living in Florida the last almost seven years (five in Fort Myers, two in Orlando) — it’s truly become home,” said Monahan, 30. “The thought of leaving Orlando and Florida was a tough one initially, but once I visited Seattle back in September, I fell in love with the area.”

Monahan going to the network…

(from OrlandoSentinel.com) – WFTV-Channel 9 meteorologist Brian Monahan has caught the eye of people at the network level.

He will be filling in on the weekend editions of ABC’s “Good Morning America” on four days: Sept. 10, 11, 17 and 18.

But take note: WFTV airs only the Saturday edition of “GMA” at 9 a.m.

Monahan joined WFTV last year from WINK, the CBS affiliate in Fort Myers.

He is a certified broadcast meteorologist, grew up in Southern New Jersey and is a graduate of Penn State University. He has B.S. and M.S. degrees in meteorology….Cont….

Monahan leaving WINK, headed to WFTV…

(from News-Press.com) - Popular WINK morning meteorologist Brian Monahan is breaking hearts across Southwest Florida with the announcement that he will be relocating to the Orlando television market later this fall.

 Monahan, who came to WINK in May 2006, has accepted a position with the weather team at WFTV-TV, the ABC station in Orlando — a move that keeps him happily in the Sunshine State.

 “I came here 4 1/2 years ago thinking, I’d only spend a couple of years in Florida and head back North. Now I can’t imagine leaving,” the New Jersey native told me. “It’s definitely a bittersweet decision. I’ve worked with so many great people — past and present — at WINK.”

 Monahan will be working weekend evenings at WFTV and plans regular visits back to our shores thanks to his snowbird parents who winter here….Cont….
