Christine Souders to anchor at WTXL…

Just days after Florida News Center reported that WTXL had parted ways with morning/noon anchor Kellie Bartoli, the Tallahassee station has already named her replacement.

In an e-mail to staff, news director David Lee announced that Christine Souders will be the station’s new morning/noon anchor. She will officially join the station on March 21’st.

Souders comes from WVNY-TV/WFFF-TV in Burlington, VT where she had served as reporter and weekend anchor for the past two years. She has also worked at WAOW-TV and WHBF-TV.

Kellie Bartoli and WTXL part ways…

Sources tell Florida News Center that WTXL morning and noon anchor Kellie Bartoli’s contract is not being renewed.

WTXl news director David Lee notified Bartoli after the 2/26 Friday morning show that she was being let go. Following the notification, staffers noted that Bartoli’s bio and photo were quickly removed from the WTXL website.

She joined WTXL in February 2014, after nearly three years at WTWO in Terra Haute, IN.

Insiders also tell Florida News Center that further changes at coming at the Tallahassee station, as the station tries to attract more viewers and boost ratings. Stay tuned for further information.

M. David Lee named as News Director at WTXL…

(from Calkins Media Press Release) – M. David Lee III will join the WTXL ABC 27 team as news director in December 2013.

Lee is currently the Assistant News Director with Cowles California Media Company at KCOY, Santa Maria, Calif., where he is responsible for day-to-day operations of the news department.

Lee has 25 years in broadcasting, serving as a production manager, sports director/anchor, promotions director, reporter, assignment editor, and news content manager.

He was part of the team that won a 2012 Emmy award for Overall News Excellence and nominated that same year for Best Newscast and Team Coverage categories. At KION in Salinas, Calif., Lee and the staff were winners of three 2012 Regional Murrow Awards for Overall Excellence, Video Breaking News and Video Continuing Coverage categories and winner of a National Murrow Award in 2011 for Video Continuing Coverage category.

He was promoted within Cowles television stations from Assignment Manager and Content Manager at KION to Assistant News Director at KCOY.
