WFLA personality takes a scary flight…

(edited from WFLA.com) – An American Airlines flight was forced to make an emergency landing at Tampa International Airport early Tuesday. Passengers say it was due to a malfunction with landing gear.

WFLA Daytime host Jerry Penacoli was on board the plane. He says passengers were told to brace as if they would crash land. Flight attendants showed passengers how to properly brace for landing. As the flight came down, the flight attendants kept screaming “Brace! Brace! Brace!” and passengers were all screaming, Penacoli explained. Jerry Penacoli joins WFLA-syndie “Daytime”…

(edited from TVSpy.com) – Former “Extra” correspondent, Jerry Penacoli has been named co-host of “Daytime,” WFLA‘s nationally syndicated show.

“I am very pleased to announce the addition of Jerry Penacoli to ‘Daytime,’ ” WFLA president and general manager Brad Moses said in a statement. “Our long standing relationship with ‘Extra’ and his frequent visits to guest host made him a staff and viewer favorite.”….Cont….

Nemeth booted from “Daytime”…

(from TBO.com)Dave Nemeth has left the locally produced and nationally syndicated “Daytime” show.

“Daytime” Executive Producer Maureen Famiano confirmed today that his contract, which expires in March, has not been renewed. Nemeth could not be reached for comment.

Nemeth, a former news anchor, reporter, actor and game show host in Los Angeles, became a co-host (with Cyndi Edwards) of “Daytime” in 2006.

“He contributed to the success of ‘Daytime’,” says Mark Dvornik, president and general manager of WFLA, Channel 8 and president of Media General’s Riverbank Studios, which syndicates “Daytime” to more than 100 TV stations throughout the country….Cont….
