(from OrlandoSentinel.com) – Gaard Swanson, a Seattle television veteran who has worked for HGTV, will become the primary male anchor at WKMG-Channel 6, the station announced this morning.
Swanson’s first day on the air at the CBS affiliate will be Thursday, Feb. 3, which is the first day of the February ratings period. He will co-anchor with Lauren Rowe at 6 and 11 p.m.
Swanson comes to WKMG from KIRO, the CBS affiliate in Seattle. He works as a free-lance host there. Before that, he was sports director at KIRO for eight years.
WKMG highlighted that Swanson, while at KIRO, had hosted other programs, including HGTV’s “Generation Renovation” and several HGTV specials.
“He’s very comfortable on camera,” WKMG General Manager Skip Valet said. “You’ll see that almost immediately. He’s very versatile.”
Will Swanson continue to do HGTV programs? “He may do some of that as long as it doesn’t impact his job here,” Valet said. “We’ll keep him pretty busy.”….Cont….
