Spooner to Orlando/A reboot for “Buzz”…

(from – “New look. New hosts. Same attitude.”

That’s the promotional approach from “The Daily Buzz,” the nationally syndicated morning show that tapes in Orlando. The program will bring on a new team next month.

The additions are Charles Divins, an actor who spent five years on the soap “Passions”; Lisa Spooner (right), who has anchored mornings at WFTX in Fort Myers; Lance Smith, who hosted CMT’s “Top 20 Countdown”; and Jessica Reyes, who was a radio personality in Tampa and official spokesperson for Toyota of Orlando.

Their start date is Aug. 6, and “The Daily Buzz” begins its 11th season that day.

The new team replaces Andrea Jackson and Andy Campbell. Mitch English and Kia Malone left the show last month. But English will return periodically as an “on-air tech expert.”….Cont….

Spooner sings off at WFTX…

(from – Fox4 morning anchor Lisa Spooner has announced she’s leaving the station for a new opportunity. However, what that opportunity is remains shrouded in mystery.

What we know: Spooner’s last day at Fox4 will be Wednesday, June 27. She’s moving to another city to take an on-air job at a television station. No other details so far.

It’s not the first time a job switch in the TV biz has been hush-hush. What this usually means is that someone at that other station is going to get booted and they haven’t been told yet. Trust me, TV news is a tough business….Cont….

A worldly staff at WFTX…

(by Chris Wadsworth @ – If regular viewers have been sensing a certain international flavor while watching Fox4 news of late, it may be because of a couple of new reporters the station has recently added to its staff.

Gabrielle Sarann was born and raised in South Africa and lived in London before moving to the United States. She also lived in Italy during college. Since then, she’s been busy working in television news, including stints as an associate producer with the “CBS Evening News” and as a bureau chief for WCTV-TV, the CBS station in Tallahassee.

Meanwhile, Fox4’s new Collier County reporter, Andre Senior, was born and spent his earliest years in Jamaica….Cont….

New faces in Fort Myers…

(edited from – WFTX Fox4 is adding two new anchors to its on-air staff.

Lisa Spooner will become the new anchor of “Fox4 Rising,” the station’s morning newscast. She’s coming to Southwest Florida from KYTX-TV, the CBS affiliate in Tyler, Texas, where she was also a morning anchor. She also was a guest host on the nationally syndicated morning program “The Daily Buzz.” Also on Spooner’s resume: back in 2002, she was the reigning Miss Texas.

Fox4 has also hired a new weekend anchor. Her name is Emily Dishnow and she last worked at WOAY-TV, the ABC affiliate, in Oak Hill, W.Va. There she was the main 6 and 11 p.m. anchor. Dishnow is a University of Kentucky grad and, as a bonus, has family in the Fort Myers area.

Meanwhile, joining sister stations NBC2 and ABC7 is reporter Elizabeth Billingsley. She most recently worked at KOMU-TV in Columbia, Mo. Billingsley has an interesting background for a newscaster – she’s also an attorney. She’s a graduate of Wake Forest Law School and was a legal analyst at WUSA-TV, the CBS station in Washington, D.C.

Also coming on board is Sara Miles. She’s coming from KEYC-TV in the Mankato, Minn., market, where she was the weekend anchor. Miles originally hails from the St. Louis area….Cont….
