Max Winitz to depart WWSB….

WWSB weekend anchor and general assignment reporter Max Winitz will be departing the Sarasota station. His final broadcast will be Sunday night, 5/29.

He is leaving to accept a position as the Communications and Public/Media Relations Manager for the 2017 World Rowing Championships. This event will take place in Sarasota in October 2017. He says this is only a sabbatical from TV news.

He joined WWSB in January 2011, finding love at the station. He married WWSB week day evening/night anchor Hayley Wielgus in 2015. Wielgus will remain in her position at WWSB.

WWSB anchors get hitched…

(edited from – WWSB’s own Max Winitz and Hayley Wielgus said “I do” on Saturday night in an interfaith wedding ceremony at the Sarasota Yacht Club.

The ceremony was officiated by both a rabbi and pastor, with friends, family and ABC 7 colleagues in attendance to share in the celebration. Read the rest of this entry →

New to WWSB…

The reporter and weekend anchor is taking a similar job at WWSB-TV in Sarasota, Florida. His last day at WECT is Thursday.

The Miami native began his broadcasting career with WECT in June 2007. Since then, Max has worked on many memorable stories. His favorites include: Covering the Inauguration of Barack Obama in Washington, traveling on board the USS Gravely from Jacksonville, Florida to Wilmington, and being a part of the 1st Southeastern North Carolina Honor Flight to our Nation’s Capital….Cont….
