Sources tell Florida News Center that Sarasota’s WWSB and Tallahassee sister station WTXL have been using the website craigslist to find new talent for the stations. WTXL started the trend in early March posting ads for a technical producer and weekend news anchor/reporter. WWSB continued the trend, posting ads for photogs, producers, multimedia journalists, reporter and the ad for a new main anchor below.
WWSB, ABC 7 is seeking an experienced anchor and dedicated journalist for a main newscast. Position requires excellent news judgment, strong passion for news, ability to enterprise unique and compelling stories. ENPS, non-linear editing and ability to one-person band is a plus….Cont for full ad….
Why is this important? The use of craigslist to find technical or on air talent for your station is not the usual way to go in television. Also, the recent posting by WWSB further bolster rumors (that first started on threads posted in the Florida News Center Forum and later continued by other sources via email) that include veteran anchor Heidi Godman (right) and AM/noon anchor Monica Yadav (left). Sources on these say that Godman has been notified that she is being replaced and will be off the air by the end of April and that Yadav is being demoted to reporter and being replaced by anchor/reporter Linda Carson.
The craigslist postings only help to further fuel these speculations about Godman and Yadav and other rumors swirling about changes at WWSB & WTXL. Sources tell Florida News Center that WWSB has been in limbo, since the firing of GM Manny Calvo (as we reported in December 2009). The GM at WTXL has been working overtime, managing WTXL and WWSB while a new GM is found. Stay tuned for further imformation.
