WKMG gets a new set…

Orlando’s WKMG unveiled their new set this week. The new set features a horizontal media wall that is used for news, weather and sports. Graphics, logos, music and slogans remain the same.

News 13 unveils a new set…

Orlando market 24hr cable channel, News 13 unveiled a new set today. The new set, built by Park Place, completely replaces the previous main anchor set. The old weather set, replaced just two years ago, remains unchanged for now. The graphics, news music, slogans and logo’s also remain unchanged.

News 13’s set is not as large as the one unveiled a few weeks ago by Tampa market sister channel, Bay News 9, but it shares the same look, dynamic backgrounds and technology. The News 13 set/studios will serve as a back-up for BN9 and InfoMas in the event of a hurricane or other event.

InfoMás gets a new set…

Last week brought a new set for Tampa market 24-hr news channel, Bay News 9. However, right across the hall, Spanish language sister station, InfoMás also received a new set as well.

The new casa for InfoMás is smaller than it’s big sister, BN9 but contains the same technology and dynamic background. The new set, built by Park Place Studios, in “Studio B” was built especially for InfoMás but will also serve as a back-up studio for BN9 and Orlando sister stations News 13 and BHSN if needed. InfoMás serves the Tampa and Orlando media markets, with one combined news, weather and sportscast.

Graphics, logo, music and branding stays the same.

WFTS unveils a new set…

Tampa’s WFTS unveiled their new set today on the 4 p.m. newscast. The new set, created and built by Devlin Design Group encompasses nearly the entire main studio space. The anchors, who remain standing during newscasts, shift between the main anchor desk and three distinct stand-up story areas. The main video wall behind the anchors generally serves as a background for the main desk, which is changed during the time of the day (example in screen caps below – day, dusk, dark).

Logo, music, slogans and graphics all remain the same.

Changes are coming to WFTS…

Viewers watching WFTS may have noticed something a little off with the picture at the Tampa station. For the past week, all backgrounds on screen at the station have been a projection on a chroma key wall (main and weather), with the desk pushed back into the newsroom. Notice the C/K clip lines on the the dark suit jackets below.

Sources tell Florida News Center that the station’s massive former set (below) was so large and intricate that it has taken nearly a week to disassemble and clear out the main studio floor to make way for the new set construction. Read the rest of this entry →
