Ric Blackwell back to WPEC…

Our friends at SFLTV.com report that former WPEC anchor Ric Blackwell is returning to the West Palm Beach station. He will anchor the station’s weekend newscasts.

If you do not recall, Blackwell and WPEC parted was in 2010 as they station underwent ownership changes and staff shakeups. Before leaving the station, he had been with WPEC for 17 years. For the past three years he has been promoting himself as a jack-of-all-trades, via his website.

WFLX drops WPEC, casualties to come…

(from Page2Live.com)Suzanne Boyd (right #1) and Eric Roby (right #2), arguably one of the best anchor teams in local television, are likely out at WFLX-Channel 29 as the Fox affiliate plans for brand new newscasts next year.

Since its arrival in this market in the mid 1980s, WFLX has contracted other stations to do its morning and 10 p.m. news.

For more than 15 years, that contract went to WPEC-Channel 12, the CBS affiliate that provided its on-air personalities and facilities for the Fox broadcast.

In addition to Boyd and Roby, weatherman John Matthews and sports guy Pat Murphy handled the popular 10 p.m. shows. Comely Claudia Shea and Ric Blackwell did mornings.

This week, however, WFLX signed on with NBC affiliate WPTV-Channel 5 to produce its news programming for the next five years
