Calkins Media to dump WWSB & WTXL…

(from TVNewsCheck.com) – Calkins Media is exiting the broadcast TV business, having agreed to sell its three small-market ABC affiliates to Raycom Media and its duopoly partner, according to a memo to station staffers from Calkins CEO Mark Contreras.

Adams headed to the First Coast, Huntsville station celebrates…

THIS STORY HAS BEEN CORRECTED: ADAMS TO WTEV/WAWS, NOT WTLV/WJXX…CLICK HERE FOR THE CORRECTION

Sources tell Florida News Center that WAAY ABC 31 anchor Karen Adams has resigned from the Huntsville, AL station to join Jacksonville’s WJXX/WTLV. Adams anchored newscasts on WJXX (then, not combined with WTLV) from 1997-2002. She comes to WTLV/WJXX to anchor an “evening position, to be announced later.” The news of Adams future arrival at WTLV/WJXX comes as we also hear that WTLV will be possibly moving their 11pm newscast, to 10pm to coincide with the The Jay Leno Show possibly being moved to 11pm on NBC. Stay tuned for further information.

Now the juicy part…back to Karen Adams…Sources also tell Florida News Center that upon news of her resignation “personnel at WAAY were seen dancing and skipping in the hallways in very public displays of joy, at her departure.” Adams has been “one of the most difficult employees and inconsistent anchors in recent memory.”
