Patty Crosby to depart WTLV/WJXX

(edited from Jacksonville.com) – WTLV/WJXX anchor Patty Crosby announced on “Good Morning Jacksonville” Wednesday she is leaving the duopoly to work for Hospice of Golden Isles in Brunswick.

Crosby joined WTLV in August 1995. “I’m expecting the champagne on Friday, guys,” she told her co-anchor Lewis Turner and meteorologist Mike Prangley.

WCWJ to be sold, yet another duopoly for JAX…

In a press release from Graham Holdings Company, the media company has reached an agreement with Nexstar Broadcasting Group and Media General to acquire Jacksonville CW affiliate, WCWJ and WSLS in Roanoke, VA.

So how does this impact the Jacksonville market? Independent WJXT is currently owned by Graham Holdings. The acquisition of WCWJ by Graham will create the third duopoly i that market (WTLV/WJXX by TEGNA and WJAX/WFOX by Cox Media). Shannon Ogden to depart WTLV/WJXX…

WTLV/WJXX lead anchor Shannon Ogden is leaving the Jacksonville duopoly at the end of the May sweeps period. He has anchored the station’s weekday evening/night newscasts for the past 10 years.

He is leaving to anchor at KMGH-TV in Denver, CO. His last day at the station will be May 31st. Read the rest of this entry →

Roger Weder/Steve Smith retiring from FCN….

(edited from FirstCoastNews.com) – WTLV/WJXX reporter Roger Weder and meteorologist Steve Smith are set to enter a new phase of their career as they hang up their microphones and head toward retirement.

Weeder has been at FCN since 1985. During his multi-decade stint, he has covered important education and government stories, as well as breaking news in our community.

Courtney Jones to Orlando as Courtney Jasmin….

Sports anchor/reporter Courtney Jones has departed the Jacksonville duopoly of WTLV/WJXX.

She is headed south, to fill the same role at Orlando’s WESH and will work along market sports veteran, Pat Clarke.

With a new TV gig, also comes a new name. At WESH she will be known by her married name, Courtney Jasmin.

Before WTLV/WJXX, she worked at Fox Sports Regional Network, Fox Sports South and SportSouth in the Atlanta market.
