Allyson Meyers named VP/GM at WOFL/WRBW/WOGX…

(from TVNewsCheck.com) – Allyson Meyers today was named vice president and general manager of Fox-owned WOFL (Fox)-WRBW (MNT) Orlando, Fla. (DMA 19), and WOGX Gainsville, Fla. (DMA 163).

She replaces Dennis Welsh, who was recently named VP-GM of Fox O&O WFLD Chicago. Effective Thursday, Jan. 17, Meyers will oversee all editorial, business and administrative functions for the stations.

Most recently, Meyers was VP-general sales manager of Fox O&O WTXF Philadelphia. Previously, she spent nearly nine years with Tribune Broadcasting….Cont….

Fox O&O’s get help from AccuWeather…

(from BroadcastingCable.com) – Fox Television Stations (FTS) and AccuWeather are partnering in 11 Fox markets starting this summer, with AccuWeather’s content running on air and online at the Fox-owned stations in Dallas, Atlanta, Washington, Detroit, Phoenix, Tampa, Minneapolis, Orlando, Memphis, Austin and Gainesville (Fla.).

Fox said its stations “will offer their local viewers a 24/7 live streaming video weather channel provided by AccuWeather,” while jointly produced and branded content will extend across “virtually all of the stations’ media platforms,” including mobile.

“Weather is one of the most important services our stations provide to their communities and has long been a major focus for FTS,” said Ron Stitt, the group’s vice president of digital media and internet operations. “This exclusive partnership with AccuWeather, a company who has been extremely effective in pursuing digital platform distribution, notably Connected TVs, will help us take our digital weather products to the next level.”….Cont….

Are layoffs coming to FL Fox O&O’s? Read the story below to see how new technical changes, could effect employees at Tampa’s WTVT, Orlando’s WOFL/WRBW and Gainesville’s WOGX.

(from TVSpy.com) – Chicago’s Fox O&O WFLD-TV today notified 10 technicians that their positions are being eliminated in the coming weeks.

A Fox spokesperson confirmed the job cuts to TVSpy, saying that it was part of the station group’s move from an engineering-based system to an IT-based system. The transition has been in the works for more than a year now and Fox plans to begin running much of its stations’ technical operations, such as the distribution of programming and insertion of commercials, out of a new hub based in Las Vegas.

Master control operations will continue at the local level however and the spokesperson says that, while jobs associated with the old system are being eliminated, stations will potentially be hiring for positions in master control….Cont….

Naft to director of sales at CFL Fox O&O’s…

(from TVNewsCheck.com) – Jason Naft has been named director of sales for three Fox Television-owned stations: WOFL Orlando, WRBW Orlando and WOGX Gainesville. He reports to Dennis Welsh, vice president and general manager.

Most recently, Naft served as local sales manager at Post-Newsweek’s WPLG Miami, a position he held for four years. Prior to that, Naft was national sales manager at WSFL-TV Miami (then WBZL-TV). – (from TVNewsCheck.com)
