Were the LaGrones investigated in retaliation…?

(edited from TVSpy.com) – Nearly three weeks after WPTV investigative reporter Katie LaGrone ran a story looking into questionable shootings by the Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office, she and her husband, WPBF anchor Paul LaGrone, have become the subject of an investigation by the Florida Department of Children and Families.

While this may seem like a coincidence, some are beginning to wonder if the LaGrones are now a target of the Sheriff’s office.

LaGrone’s story, which aired on April 23, was one in a series on WPTV called Line of Fire, looking into how the PBSO investigates shootings involving its own deputies….Cont….

Paul & Katie LaGrone investigated for child neglect…

(edited from GossipExtra.com) – WPTV investigative reporter Katie LaGrone and her husband, WPBF anchorman Paul LaGrone, are being investigated by the state’s Department of Children and Families after neighbors reported that one of the couple’s two children was routinely left alone to roam their streets.

Gossip Extra has confirmed that West Palm Beach cops were called to the LaGrone’s home  twice on May 7, at noon and 2 p.m. The second time, the officer brought a DCF case worker with him.

A neighbor of the LaGrones who asked to remain anonymous said someone tipped off DCF that the LaGrones allegedly leave their child unattended. Read the rest of this entry →

WPTV wins Feb 2015, station profiled…

(edited from TVNewsCheck.com) - In the West Palm Beach market, WPTV wins the morning news time period from 4:30 to 7am, beating the combined ratings of the other local newscasts in the market.

When TVNewsCheck asked Christine Baron, WPTV’s creative services director, why she thinks the station had such a strong performance, she says the station has the most resources out gathering news content the most in the studio to further the stories in the morning.

“The WPTV morning news crew is the largest in the market,” she says, “and we’re a digital-first newsroom. We’re the only local station with two meteorologists in that time period. We have the only chopper in the market. We have a traffic team when you combo the chopper and traffic anchor.” Read the rest of this entry →

WPBF upgrades to full HD…

(from TVNewsCheck.com) - WPBF, the Hearst ABC affiliate in West Palm Beach, Fla., has completed a production control room and technical core upgrade in a new engineering wing that allows it to broadcast its signal at full high-definition resolution.

The station upgrade also includes new engineering offices and a more powerful HVAC system for all engineering operations.

Completed through a phased approach without disrupting on-air broadcasts, the WPBF facility upgrade was overseen by BeckTV, a Denver-based systems integrator. The upgrade includes new rack systems and a re-designed electrical distribution system that supports the heavier current loads required by an IT broadcast infrastructure….Cont….

Oh SH*T! – Did I just say that?

Check out the video below, as WPBF-TV morning anchor Felicia Rodriguez let an S-bomb fly during the 5:30am newscast. The newscast continues on with the story, as though nothing happened. Is this news? NO…but the FCC tells us that it’s a no-no, so here be the video…
