Jimmie Johnson joins WPBF…

(edited from – Jimmie Johnson is joining WPTV as the station’s new reporter. He will sign-on at the West Palm Beach station on Nov 30th.

He comes to WPBF from KAUZ-TV in Wichita Falls, TX, where has worked since 2013.

“I look forward to bringing residents along the Gold and Treasure Coast, ‘Live. Local. Late Breaking News,’” Johnson wrote on his Facebook page.

Hearst stations partner with The Weather Channel…

(from – Twenty-two Hearst stations (including FL affiliates WESH/WKCF in Orlando and WPBF in West Palm Beach) are partnering with The Weather Channel give viewers expanded weather information and help local business more directly market to consumers.

Local stations will be able to target the user base of The Weather Channel online and mobile applications based on the user’s location or on the weather based on “sophisticated triggers that take into account sales activity in addition to weather conditions.”….Cont….

Who says you can’t kick a football in high-heels? Check out this promo via WBPF meteorologist Sandra Shaw. I never understood how women can walk and move so easily on high-heels. As beautiful as they are, they seem torturous and ridiculous – I’d break an ankle!

Paul and Katie LaGrone cleared in DCF case…

(edited from – The child neglect investigation that ensnared WPTV-Channel 5 reporter Katie LaGrone and her husband, WPBF-Channel 25 anchorman Paul LaGrone, has been closed, the Florida Department of Children and Families confirmed today.

And although the results of the six-week probe are not being released to the public, Katie LaGrone told us DCF found no indication their actions as parents are dangerous for the children.

A DCF case worker and West Palm Beach Police officer dropped in on TV’s power couple after someone reported to the state that one of the couple’s two children, 6-year-old Jacob, was routinely left alone to roam the streets of their gated community in the Land of the Presidents section. Were the LaGrones investigated in retaliation…?

(edited from – Nearly three weeks after WPTV investigative reporter Katie LaGrone ran a story looking into questionable shootings by the Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office, she and her husband, WPBF anchor Paul LaGrone, have become the subject of an investigation by the Florida Department of Children and Families.

While this may seem like a coincidence, some are beginning to wonder if the LaGrones are now a target of the Sheriff’s office.

LaGrone’s story, which aired on April 23, was one in a series on WPTV called Line of Fire, looking into how the PBSO investigates shootings involving its own deputies….Cont….
