Feb 2017 – Orlando ratings…

(edited from OrlandoSentinel.com) – The Orlando TV ratings race intensified during February, when the Super Bowl, Oscars and Grammys drove viewing.

Without any of those events, NBC affiliate WESH still managed to win at 11 p.m. with the 25-to-54 age group. That demographic is the main focus because news advertisers value those viewers.

With that group, WFTV was the clear favorite at 5 p.m. and won close races at 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. over WESH. But WESH was in front at 4 p.m., WKMG was the dominant leader at noon, and WOFL was tops at 10 p.m. Read the rest of this entry →

Orlando March ’16 Books – WKMG gains…

(from OrlandoSentinel.com) – In the March ratings, WFTV-Channel 9 continued to win many news time slots. But WKMG-Channel 6, which had the most viewers overall at 11 p.m.

WKMG posted gains in many time slots while competitors were generally down from a year ago. The station’s “Getting Results” branding may be paying dividends.

Jan 2016 ratings are close in Orlando…

(edited from OrlandoSentinel.com) – In the 25-to-54 age group so dear to news advertisers, WFTV ranked first from 4 to 6:30 p.m. and won a close contest at 11 p.m., even though the station didn’t have a lot of help from ABC, which ranked fourth in prime time.

How close? Only 352 viewers separated WFTV from No. 2 WESH, according to Nielsen ratings supplied to the Sentinel. But WKMG reached the most viewers in all at 11 p.m. with help from CBS.

WFTV was also first in early morning, although the race turned close at 6 a.m. WESH actually reached more viewers by sharing the same news on sister station WKCF.

Orlando Oct 2015 ratings…

(from OrlandoSentinel.com) – With the 25-to-54 age group as the main measure, WFTV-Channel 9 continued to win in early morning, at noon and from 5 to 6:30 p.m. for the ratings period that ended Wednesday.

The race at 11 p.m. was most intriguing, and WFTV was the winner there with the 25-to-54 age group, which is most important to news advertisers. But the late newscasts on WKMG-Channel 6 and WESH-Channel 2 were reaching more total viewers.

Other stations pointed to other victories: WESH said it was first with the 18-to-49 age group at 6 a.m., and WKMG said it was first with 18-to-49 viewers at 6 and 11 p.m….Cont….

WFTV takes Aug, stations spin the numbers…

(edited from OrlandoSentinel.com) – WFTV-Channel 9 was the big winner in early morning, at noon and from 4 to 6:30 p.m. in the 25-to-54 age group, which is most important to news advertisers.

The race at 11 p.m. was tighter, but WFTV was the victor there, too, in the ratings period that ended Wednesday.

At 11 p.m. Monday through Sunday in August, WFTV averaged 20,389 viewers in the age group. Close behind were CBS affiliate WKMG-Channel 6 with 18,104 and NBC affiliate WESH-Channel 2 with 17,794. Read the rest of this entry →
