Former TV newsers get into the food business…

Former WJAX/WFOX anchor Lynnsey Gardner, who parted ways with the duopoly this past summer, has decided to get into the food business.

She and her husband, former WJAX/WFOX reporter Bryan Baker, who left the stations a year ago are teaming up with a local Jacksonville area eatery to expand the chain into other cities.

Baker has been working the grill at Maple Street Biscuit Company for the past two months and will now run the original location. Gardner will help to open a new St. Augustine location, but admits that she is “keeping her options open.” Read the rest of this entry →

More news on WFOX, none for WJAX…

(from – More changes are in store for Jacksonville’s Action News stations with the broadcast outlet increasing local news programming this week.

Jim Zerwekh, general manager of WFOX TV-30, announced Wednesday that the station will begin Saturday and Sunday morning news broadcasts this weekend. The local news shows will air from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. Saturday and 6 a.m. to 8 a.m. Sunday. There will be no additional local newscasts on the Action News sister station of WJAX TV-47.

News Director Bob Longo said the news productions will be treated with the same approach as other newscasts during the week….Cont….

Letisha Bush departs WALA, joins WJAX/WFOX…

WALA reporter and 4pm anchor Letisha Bush has left the Mobile market station. This past Tuesday was her last day at the station.

Bush stated on her Facebook page that she left WALA to join the Cox-owned duopoly of WJAX/WFOX.

She joined WALA in August of 2011.

WJAX & WFOX go on the air…

The call letter change is official. WTEV-TV (DT) is now WJAX-TV (DT) and WAWS-TV (DT) is now WFOX-TV (DT). The changes were official this past Sunday. Check out the new changes via the YouTube videos below.

WTEV/WAWS get ready to change call letters…

(portions from – Sunday is the day Jacksonville FOX affiliate WAWS officially becomes WFOX and CBS affiliate WTEV becomes WJAX, both Cox Media and Bayshore Television have announced.

Changing the call letters to WFOX-TV better represents FOX30 with the FOX TV network,” WAWS-WTEV VP and GM Jim Zerwekh said in a statement. “FOX30 has historically and continues to be one of the top 10 performing FOX TV affiliates in the country.”

“Changing the call letters to WJAX-TV better identifies the strengths and ties of CBS 47 to the Jacksonville market,” said Bruce Baker managing partner of Bayshore Television….Cont….
