WVEA’s Tampa newsroom is shuttered…

(edited from – Univision affiliate WVEA in Tampa will no longer produce its own newscasts. Entravision has decided to “hub” news for Tampa out of it’s Orlando sister station, WVEN.

According to sources, the company will produce a live-on-tape newscast for Tampa at 5 pm and air Orlando’s Noticias Univision Florida Central live at 6 pm.

This has been tried before. As Florida News Center reported back in 2009, WVEA and WVEN newscasts were combined, with the main anchors hubbed out of WVEN’s Orlando studios, creating a combined regional newscast. Lorena Inclan to Jacksonville…

(from – Lorena Inclán spent her Thanksgiving holiday packing and moving from Orlando to Jacksonville, where she’s starting a new job at duopoly WTEV/WAWS, the CBS and FOX affiliates.

Wednesday is Lorena’s first day as a general assignment reporter for “Action News Jax.”

Lorena was most recently a multimedia journalist at WVEN-26, Noticias Univision Florida Central in Orlando, where she was hired a little more than a year ago. Her last day at Univision Orlando was Nov. 20th….Cont….

Marina Marraco from WVEN to WESH…

(from – Marina Marraco, a reporter/anchor for Spanish-language WVEN in Orlando, is moving over to WESH-Channel 2.

The Florida native, who grew up in the Miami area, will join the NBC affiliate on Oct. 22. She will work mornings for the “Sunrise” newscast.

Marraco has been with Univision affiliate WVEN since 2010. She also has worked as a Florida correspondent for Univision and reported on the Casey Anthony trial and George Zimmerman case….Cont….

Ay Dios mio! Entravision falls in 2Q…

(from – Entravision Communications Corp. (owners of WVEA/WFTT-LP and WVEN/WOTF-LP) on Wednesday reported financial results for the quarter ended June 30. Television revenue dropped 5% to $33,118,000 from $34,819,000 in the same quarter a year earlier.

Commenting on the company’s earnings results, Walter F. Ulloa, chairman-CEO, said: “During the second quarter of 2011, we faced challenging comparisons to last year’s second quarter, when we benefited from World Cup, political and census advertising revenue. Nevertheless, our audience shares remain strong, and we believe we are well positioned to benefit as the U.S. Hispanic market continues to expand and advertisers increasingly recognize the importance of reaching our target audience….Cont….

Ask for más dinero, Entravision up in 4Q…

(which owns Tampa’s WVEA/WFTT and Orlando’s WVEN/WOFT) on Wednesday afternoon reported financial results for the three-month period ended Dec. 31, 2010. Net revenue from television was up 4%, to $33.8 million from $32.4 million in the year-ago quarter.

The company said the increase was primarily attributable to retransmission consent revenue and political advertising revenue.

For the company as a whole, net revenue increased to $50.6 million for the quarter, an increase of 5%….Cont….
